On this day, the 23rd of December in the year of our lord 2009, an update to Projection Recrords was bequeathed to the unwashed masses.

Since September, Brandon has been playing lead guitar in Peterborough quartet House Taken Over. We recorded a five song EP called “The EPIC Letdown” over two days in October. Brandon mixed it on the third day, it was duplicated and packaged on the fourth day, and given away for free on the fifth day at our first public show.

That show took place on a Thursday night at Ossia (Southeast corner of Hunter and Aylmer in Peterborough) with a Saturday night Halloween spectacular taking place at the Spill (George St south of Brock in Peterborough).

We have since played the Spill again, along with a show at the Traill College pub.

On December 11th, Brandon slipped on an icy sidewalk and broke his leg in two places. He thus missed his final week of classes and has, in fact, been indoors ever since.

In some ways, this is perfect. Work has begun on the first House Taken Over full length recording. Entitled “Poor Decisions”, the record is expected to have 12 tracks, and should be available (barring further setbacks. . .hah!) by March-ish.

For anyone local to the Peterborough area, House Taken Over will be playing at 11:30 on New Year’s Eve at the Nano House on George St just south of Edinburgh. Yes, Brandon expects to still be in a cast by that time.

NOTE: Anyone reading the blog entry directly below this will notice that yes, one year ago this month I was also working with House Taken Over on a full length album. That one failed to see the light of day for reasons many and varied. Let’s hope the fates are on our side this time!

By god, it lives!

It’s been just over a year since the completion of our last project, but a new year brings new work.

Projection Records is currently embedded with Peterborough quartet House Taken Over in an upstairs bedroom studio.

Live tracking began in late December, and is expected to wrap up by January 17th. Following a brief period of relocation, overdubs will commence by late January with an anticipated (and romantic!) completion date of Feb 14th.

The somewhat minimalistic instrumentation of the project suggests a rather smooth mixing process. While no hard deadlines are in place, we certainly expect to have this disc available by Spring ’09.

Rough mixes will be posted as they become available.
